These seeds are from Cardiospermum halicacabum, also known as Love in a Puff, Balloon Vine, and Heartseed. This vine likes to live in full sun where it gets 12 feet high with white blossoms from the middle of the Summer until the middle of Fall. The young shoots and leaves can be boiled and eaten as a vegetable. The stems, seeds, fruits, and leaves are all edible. Cardiospermum halicacabum is also used as an ornamental plant for its natural beauty. Balloon Vine is a larval host plant for the Miami Blue, Amethyst Hairstreak, Silver-banded Hairstreak, Common Banner, and Red-lined Scrub-Hairstreak butterflies. This vine can be grown anywhere as an annual and is a tender perennial in USDA Hardiness Zones 8 to 11.
