This is Ulmus americana, also known as American Elm, soft elm, Florida elm, White Elm, and Water Elm. This tree must have full sun and can grow to a majestic height of 75 feet tall. This tree is larval host to the Question Mark, Tawny Emperor, Mourning Cloak, and Eastern Comma butterflies. It is also the larval host plant of the Mysterious Olethreutes, White-lined Sphinx, Francks sphinx, Elm sphinx, and the Twin-spotted sphinx moths.
