This is Crocosmia aurea, also known as Falling Stars, Valentine Flower, and Montbretia. The tall stalks on this flower make it a good candidate to use in a vase, as a cut flower. Crocosmia aurea grows about 3 feet tall and blossoms throughout the Summer and into early Fall. This plant loves to live in a moist environment and does better in the shade than in the sun. Crocosmia aurea is also used as a saffron substitute and as a food coloring. This plant is the larval host for the Iris Borer Moth. USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 9
