These seeds were collected from Cornus officinalis, also known as Japanese cornelian cherry, Shan Zhu Yu, Asiatic dogwood, and Japanese Cornel Dogwood. This tree likes to live in full sun to partial shade where it can grow up to about 15 feet tall. The yellow blossoms are on display from late winter until early spring. The fruit can be eaten cooked or raw and is a little bit sour. Cornus trees in general are larval host plants for the Spring Azure butterfly, and the Cecropia silkmoth. USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 8.
