This is Phlox drummondii, also known as Annual Phlox, and Drummonds Phlox. This fragrant flower is beloved by the birds, bees, and butterflies. It grows about a foot tall and should be planted in full sun. This is a nectar source for the Five-spotted hawkmoth, Poecila sphinx, Achemon sphinx, Apple sphinx, Spotted Straw, Lettered sphinx, Titan sphinx, Hummingbird Clearwing, Nessus sphinx, White-lined Sphinx, and Slender clearwing moths. It is also a nectar source for the Indian Skipper, Pipevine Swallowtail, Dusted Skipper, and Olympia Marble butterflies. This is an annual plant and can be grown in all USDA Hardiness Zones.
