This is Lilium michiganense, also known as Michigan Lily. Living in full sun or partial shade this gorgeous flower is in blossom from late Spring until the middle of the Summer. This plant draws attention from the birds, bees, and butterflies. The Swallowtail butterflies and hummingbirds just love it and it can also be grown in a container if you need a plant for that situation. It is a nectar source for the Pipevine Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail, Great Spangled Fritillary, and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. Lilium bulbs are edible but some species are very bitter. I do not know if this one is bitter or not. USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 8.
