This is Scrophularia marilandica, also known as Late Figwort, Carpenters Square, Eastern Figwort. This plant does not particularly like the full sun. It should be planted in light to medium shade, and it would be very content in the full shade. This late figwort blooms from July to October where as early figwort blooms from May to July. This thin wiry plant is rather attractive as an ornamental addition to your garden. Scrophularia marilandica is the larval host plant for the Baltimore Checkerspot, Fulvia Checkerspot, Gillettes Checkerspot, Chalcedon Checkerspot, Arachne Checkerspot, and Dotted Checkerspot butterflies.
